Hello, my name is moca.
This time, I took my pet dog to Unzen Amakusa National Park in Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Heisei Shinzan
Heisei Shinzan is located on the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture. Heiseishinzan erupted in 1990 and has been active ever since.
The eruption of Heiseishinzan began suddenly in January 1990, and the surrounding area was severely damaged, resulting in the loss of lives and property of local residents.
The mountain body of Heisei Shinzan formed by this eruption has continued to erupt actively since then. Observed eruptive activity includes explosive eruptions and plumes of smoke. Therefore, constant vigilance for volcanic activity is required in the vicinity of Mount Heisei Shinzan.
Although Heisei Shinzan is currently monitored for volcanic activity, it is also known as a tourist destination and now attracts many tourists again.
A little before the Nita Pass, we decided to drop in at the viewing point.
Park your car in the car park and climb the stairs to get a good view of the scenery. The dogs are very happy.🐕
Nita Pass
There is a large car park about five minutes’ drive from the second viewing point mentioned earlier.
Park there and walk for a while until you see the ropeway station.
Ropeway Fare
Adult: 1,300 yen round trip (including junior high school students) / Child: 650 yen round trip
Adults: 750 yen one way (including junior high school students) / Children: 370 yen one way
After purchasing tickets at the ticket office, climb the stairs at the side of the building to the ropeway platform.
As the highest observatory in Nagasaki Prefecture, it offers a 360° panoramic view.
Chijiwa speciality [Jaga-chan].
On the way home, I was hungry, so I stopped to eat a Chijiwa speciality, jaga-chan.
On the way to Unzen, Chijiwa is a thriving potato producer, and Nagasaki Prefecture is said to rank third in the country in potato production.
And [Jagachan], which is famous in the prefecture.
Whenever I come to Shimabara, I always eat Jagachan. It’s just boiled potatoes dipped in a thin batter and deep-fried, but it’s very tasty.
Recently, there seem to be many different flavoured versions, so I decided to have some this time too.
Jaga-chan 1 skewer ¥200
Jaga-chan salted butter (in a cup) ¥150
Jaga-chan set (juice L + 1) ¥200
Jaga-katsu skewer (3 small pieces) ¥200
Jaga-boko skewer ¥200
You get a thin, crispy batter on the outside and whole, flaky potatoes on the inside.
It’s simple, but it’s a taste you can only get here. Try a sample when you stop by.
Jaga-chan is located next to the souvenir shop at the ChijiwaObservatory. It has a good view of the mountains and the sea in front of it and is famous as a frequent stopover for motorbike and other touring tourists.
Souvenir shops and shops are located around the large car park.
There are many other places of interest in Japan.
